 MARRIAGE -  विवाह

77

At Kamarpurkur, Chandra Devi is sad

She hears that her dearest son is mad

At Dakshineshwar, his future looks grim

To Kamarpurkur, She calls him.

कोसळला चंद्रादेवीवर पहाड; ती बातमी आली दुष्ट

तिचा एकुलता एक मुलगा झाला आहे भ्रमिष्ट

दक्षिणेश्वरी त्याच्या भविष्यात पसरला होता अंधार

बोलावलं कामारपूरलाच तिने त्याला; तोच होता आधार.

He meditates in the cremation ground

In his house, he is not found

Helpless are his mates

He is in haven's gates.

बसायचा स्मशानात तो लावून तेथेच समाधी

घरामधे पाय त्याचा नव्हताच थांबत कधी

झाले सारे आप्त आणि मित्र  त्याचे  हवालदील

तो मात्र अनुभवत होता अनुपम स्वर्गसुखाची मैफिल

Ramakrishna is twenty three years age

Him, they do not consider as sage

For him they search a bride

From him, this news they hide.

रामकृष्ण झाला आता वर्षांचा तेवीस

ज्ञानी पुरूष म्हणत नव्हते अजून त्यास कोणीच

शोधत होते त्याच्यासाठी एक सुयोग्य वधू

 ठेवीत होते त्याच्यापासून लपवून सारे बंधू

He comes to know of the plan

Behind which is the whole clan

There is no opposition from him

He is not at all grim.

कळला सारा डाव त्यांचा, त्याला एक दिवस

सारा परिवार करत होता विचार ज्याचा सतत

त्याचीही नव्हती ना काही, नव्हता काही विरोध

नव्हता त्याचा कोणावरही थोडासुद्धा क्रोध

"At Jayrambati is a girl five years old

For me reserved, though young," he told

Sarada is Ramakrishna's bride

Their marriage destroys devotee's subtle pride.

"आहे जयरामबाटींची पाच वर्षाची चिमुरडी

निर्माण केली देवाने तीच माझ्यायोग्य जोडी"

 होईल तीच शारदा ह्या रामकृष्णाची वधू

विवाहानेच त्या सेवकाचा अविनयही होईल जरा अधू.

The divine Consort of Ramakrishna is she

An integral part of spiritual Self

Born in poor but cultured family

Practices reading and writing by herself

होती रामकृष्णाची ती दैवदत्त अर्धांगी

त्याच्या अध्यात्मिक जीवनाची अविभाज्य शुभांगी

होती पोर ती गरीब सुसंस्कृत घरात जन्मलेली

प्रयत्नांनीच तिच्या ती लिहू वाचू लागली.

Her marriage is part of divine dispensation

It can only be described as providential

It is his spiritual adventure's culmination

Certainly it is not accidental

होता विवाह त्यांचा एक दैवी इच्छेचाच भाग

एकमेकांच्या साथीनेच घेणार होते ते ईश्वराचा माग

होता तो त्याच्या अध्यात्मिक साहसाचा परिपाक

काहीच नव्हत आकस्मिक; होता देवाचा सुनियोजित डाव.

The master gives her an all-round education

The emphasis is on the spiritual side

She practices Japa and meditation

Her intense happiness she cannot hide.

दिले गुरूने तिला सर्व शास्त्रांचे प्रशिक्षण

अध्यात्मावर जोर सारा; झाली ती भलतीच विचक्षण

करत असे नेहमीच ती जप आणि ध्यान

लपेल कसा तिचा आनंद अनिवार अन् महान.

Thou Eternal Virgin, O Divine Mother

The Mistress of All power

The abode of all virtue divine beauty

Lead us in our path of duty.

 हे माते तूच आहेस ती पवित्र दैवी शक्ती सनातन

करतेस तूच सा र्‍या शक्तिंचे नियमन

तूच आहेस अनंत सौंदर्याची आणि गुणांची खाण

करावे तूच आमच्या कर्तव्यपथाचे मार्गदर्शन.

Oh Mother, let me remain a child

Let me grow not, let me not be wild

Child is a beautiful simple soul

He is eager to reach the goal

हे माय! असो बरे मला तुझे लेकरू होऊन राहणे

नको ते मुजोर, शेखीखोर, रानवट मोठे होणे

किती निर्मळ असतो बालकाचा आत्मा

ध्येयाने झपाटलेला आणि त्याच्यासाठी तळमळणारा

Is there happiness in the world?

There is, and again, there is not

Like a tree of poison is the world

We know it, sometimes unable are we to act

असतो का ह्या जगात कुठे आनंद?

असतो ना ! आणि नसतो ही!

हे जग म्हणजे जणु आहे एक विषवल्ली

असतं हे कळत प्रत्येकाला; तरीही सापडत नाही वागायची गुरुकिल्ली

You have your wild imaginations

But you have to come back down to earth

Life is full of examinations

Indeed, where is fun and mirth?

भरकटतात तुमचे विचार कुठेही कल्पनेच्या वार्‍यावर

पण यावच लागत परत टेकवायला पाय जमिनीवर

जीवन म्हणजे परीक्षाच परीक्षा

कुठले आले हास्य विनोद आणि कुठले मनोरंजन?

Holy Mother is Shakti Herself

As Sodashi, Ramakrishna does worship

In human appearance is the divine Mother

She is motherly, soft like a feather

ती पवित्र दैवी माता म्हणजे  शक्तीच जणू मूर्त

शोडषी बालिकेच्या रूपात करे रामकृष्ण तिची उपासना दिनरात्र

ती दैवी शक्तीमाता वावरे मानवी रूपात

 आईसारखी प्रेमळ आणि स्पर्श तिचा पिसासारखा मुलायम

The master and the Holy mother are one

Have faith, this is secret deep

By the world, deceived is the son

Being ignorant, he continues to weep

 

 गुरू आणि माता ह्यांच्यात नव्हतेच काही द्वैत

त्यांच्या अद्वैताचे होते हे रहस्यमय गुपित

जगाकडून होत होती त्याची नेहमी फसगत

छक्केपंजे कोठचे माहित? ; बसे तो अश्रू ढाळत

She is the mother of universe

In her there is no remorse

She exhibits Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas

For our troubles, on whom is the onus?

This entire creation is her play

This is what the great sage say

She is the guide to reach Her feet

In Her, mysteriously, the opposites meet

आहे ती जननी सार्‍या ह्या जगाची

आहे ती उदासीन; खेद खंत तिला नाही

सत्त्व, रज, तम ही तिचीच रूपे

आपल्या ह्या संकटांत ती अलिप्त राहे

तीच आहे सूत्रधार ह्या विश्वाच्या लीला-नाटकाची

सांगे असे काही तो महान  विभूती

तीच दाखवते मार्ग तिच्या पादपद्मांप्रति

अद्भुतपणे विरुद्ध गोष्टी एकत्रित हिच्या ठायी

 

 

AT DAKSHINESHWAR -  (दक्षिणेश्वरी)

At Dakshineshwar, for God he is mad

Mathur and others are indeed sad

Futile is their remedy

Severe is the Malady.

काय घडले दक्षिणेश्वरी श्रोते आता ऐका

झाला होता देवासाठी तो पूर्ण वेडापिसा

होता मग्न ब्रह्मानंदात एकच त्याला ध्यास

माथूर आणि इतर मंडळी काळजीने झाले उदास

सापडत नव्हता त्यांना एक सुद्धा उपाय

बळावला होता आजर नव्हता तरणोपाय

At Kamarpurkar, to Shiva, Chandra prays

Consoled is she, by the Lord's grace

"For God, your son is mad

For that, why should you be sad?

A state of realization it is

Be not afraid, be at peace."

होती करत प्रार्थना कामारपूरकरला चंद्रा माऊली

जोडून हात भक्तिभावे  ``हे पशुपते चंद्रमौळी,''

देवाच्याच कृपेने होती आता ती  सावरली

करतांना पूजा शिवाची त्याला ती म्हणाली,

``देवा, झाला आहे तुझा पुत्र हा भ्रमिष्ट

पण का व्हावेस तू दुःखी का व्हावेत तुला कष्ट

उभा आहे  तो कोऽहं? सोऽहं! च्या पायरीवर

न वाटावे त्याला भय निरंतर शांतीच्या पथावर''

Shri Ramakrishna plucks flowers for the deity

At Dakshineshwar, it is an atmosphere of piety

There appears a woman, forty years of age

Her costume tells she is a sage.

श्री रामकृष्ण वेचित असता फुले देवासाठी

होते प्रसन्न दक्षिणेश्वराचे आवार; दाटे शांती तेथे मोठी

आली तेथे एक दिवस एक चाळीशीची प्रौढा

सांगत होता तिचा संत वेश तिचा देवापाशी ओढा

Ramkrishna is under her tutelage benign

For him, everything is Mother Divine

She teaches him the practice of Tantras

Deep is the significance of Mantras.

लाभली रामकृष्णांना तिचीच दयाळू छत्रछाया

होती रामकृष्णांसाठी सर्वस्व त्यांची कालीमाता

दिली त्यांना शिकवणी तिनेच तंत्रविद्येची

आणि दिली दाखवून ताकद मंत्रांच्या खोल प्रभावाची

Tantric practice is terrible, even for seer

Child of the Mother, Ramkrishna has no fear

Before Bhairavi utters the sacred word

His mind soars into the infinite like bird.

भयंकर होती तांत्रिक रीत द्रष्ट्या भविष्यवेत्यासाठीही

पण कालीमातेच्या लेकराला, रामकृष्णाला नव्हती भयाची कुठली चाहूलही

उच्चारण्या आधीच पवित्र मंत्र भैरवीने मुखातून

भरारी घेई पाखरासारखे असीम अनंतात त्याचे मन.

The Master looks upon every woman as mother

Unable is Maya to bind him

Have faith, O dear brother

It is not proper to act on whim

 

होती रामकृष्णांना प्रत्येक स्त्री मातेसमान

त्यांना मोहात बांधण्यासाठी मायाही नव्हती शक्तिमान

हे बंधो! असु दे श्रद्धा दृढ तुझ्या अंतरी

मनमानी सैराट वर्तन योग्यच नाही कदापी

Narrated by him is the gospel of love

Here is the real spiritual know how

Living beings, great and small

I must love them, one and all

The Supreme Creator, I adore

I have no trouble any more

 

सच्च्या, असीम प्रेमाची कसोटी सांगितली त्यांनी एकदा

कसा ओळखावा खरा जीवनमुक्तात्मा एखादा

मुंगी, कुत्रा, गाय, हत्ती प्राणी छोटा अथवा मोठा

सर्वांशीच स्नेहभाव त्याच्या हृदयात राहे मोठा

त्या परम विधात्याला नित्य असा जो पूजी

उरतच नाही कसली त्याला पीडा त्रास काळजी

His nature becomes that of a boy

He is full of happiness and joy

He is beyond the realm of good and bad

Certainly he is not at all sad.

झाली त्याची वृत्ती एका लहान मुलासारखी अवखळ

जणु आनंदाचा झुळझुळणारा झरा असावा निर्मळ

चांगल्या- वाईटाच्या पलिकडे पोचलं होतं त्याचं मन

दुःखाची लागत नव्हती थोडीही त्याला झळ

Such a concentration is unknown to scripture

His sadhana, indeed, is a divine picture

Many are the precipices in the Tantric way

Ramkrishna crosses  them over in an easy way

नाही सापडणार अद्भुत एकाग्रता अशी पोथ्यांमधे कुठल्याही

होती नक्कीच साधना त्यांची एक दैवी अनुभूती

तांत्रिक पथावर चालतांना पार करावे लागतात कित्येक अवघड कडे

पण सहज त्यांना लांघून गेला रामकृष्ण ध्येयाकडे

"God is nearest and dearest of all

He is willing to make himself small

Only if there is genuine devotion and cry

Otherwise god is high up in the sky.

असतो देव सर्वांसाठी नेहमीच जवळ आणि प्रेमळ

भाव असेल भक्ताचा तर, देव होतो बाळ लडिवाळ कोमल

अंतःकरणाची आर्त हाक पाहिजे मात्र निखळ

नाहीतर देव आहे दूर, उंच आकाशात पोकळ

To Dakshineshwar, jatadhari comes

On devotion he sums

Rama is his favourite Deity

He is full of piety.

आला दक्षिणेश्वरी एक जटाधारी साधू

होता समर्पित पूर्णपणे, नव्हता कोणी भोंदू

होता श्रीराम त्याचा आराध्य देव

हृदयात होती त्याच्या भक्तिभावाची ठेव

For him Ram is only a child

Although Rama is universal Guide

He is high up on devotion-tide

Ramalala always plays  by his side.

होता त्याच्यासाठी राम फक्त बाळ छोटुकला

जरी असला तो मार्गदर्शक समस्त ह्या विश्वाचा

होता त्याचा रामाप्रति अत्युच्च समपर्ण भाव

खेळायचा राम-लल्लाही त्याच्यासह खेळाचा डाव

A single service Jatadhari does not miss

He is in state of constant bliss

Ramalala is a naughty Boy

He too requires a toy.

नाही चुकवायचा जटाधारी कधीच, रामाची कुठलीच सेवा

परमानंदात तो असायचा  मग्न   सदा  अन् कदा

होता त्याचा रामलल्लाही हट्टी खोडकर भारी

खेळण्यांसाठी नव्या नव्या हट्ट करायची स्वारी

In this play Ramkrishna takes part

Instantaneous is the response of his heart

Ramlala runs round and round

Without any fury and sound.

सामील झाला रामकृष्ण त्यांच्या ह्या खेळात

घातली त्याच्या हृदयाने तत्क्षणी त्याला साद

रामलल्लाही घालत होता रिंगण त्यांच्या भोवती

अत्यंत निरागसपणे हृदयी धरून शांती
